An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 nurse to work within a small Tissue Viability team.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated nurse, working part-time to support the Tissue Viability Nurse Specialists in their role promoting high quality, evidence based wound care advice and education to patients and staff within the north area of West Sussex (Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex and the surrounding areas).
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for supporting the community teams, community inpatient units and other primary health care staff with the management of patients with complex and / or chronic wounds, including pressure ulcers, leg ulcers and other wounds. This will be achieved with the shared aim of promoting excellent care at the heart of the community.
As the Tissue Viability Nurse you will assist with the development and participate in the delivery of the tissue viability educational programme to health care personnel involved with wound care and skin care within the local health economy. This will include formal group training, facilitating TVN link nurse sessions and one to one training of staff, patients and relatives.
You will also be working as part of the wider Sussex Community Foundation Trust to promote best practice and on-going service development that is responsive to the wound care needs of the area the service provide. When necessary you will deputise for the Band 7 Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist nurse and work as part of the wider SCFT TVN team on Trust wide tissue viability related projects.

Person specification
Qualifications and/or professional registration
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse qualification / degree or diploma
- NMC registration
- ENB 998 or equivalent mentorship qualification
Desirable criteria
- Leg Ulcer Management Module or Complex wound or Tissue Viability module or working towards
- Evidence of a range of clinical competencies
Experience
Essential criteria
- 2 year post registration experience
- Up to date competencies in Doppler ABPI and compression bandaging
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a community setting is desirable
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Demonstrates competency in a range of clinical skills e.g. wound management, compression bandaging, Doppler assessment skills
- Knowledge of current local policies informing wound, Leg ulcer and pressure ulcer management
- Promote independence and choice in undertaking patient care
- Familiar with SystmOne and mobile working. IT literate or willing to achieve within an agreed period
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance, clinical audit and clinical supervision, Professional codes of Conduct
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge/ understanding of boundaries of role
