Job overview
We are looking for a motivated Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our well-established Physiotherapy teams at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester and Littlehampton Health Centre (MSk). The role will join our 4-month rotation scheme and be focused on providing a high standard of Physiotherapy assessment, treatment and evaluation to clients across multi-specialty in-patient and out-patient settings.
The rotation specialties are: Respiratory & Critical Care, Neurology (Stroke, Complex Patients & Rehabilitation), Trauma and Orthopaedics (Elective, Trauma and Day Surgery), Acute Medicine (Frailty, Care of the Older Person, Gastro and Endocrine and Amputee Rehabilitation), Acute Assessment (Emergency Floor) and Musculoskeletal Out-patients.
Chichester is a beautiful historic city situated adjacent to the South Downs National Park, the sea and with excellent transport links to London and across Southern England. You will be joining a strong and supportive Physiotherapy team within the top performing University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. Main duties of the job
You will have the opportunity to work within strong and supportive multi-disciplinary teams utilising your developing assessment and clinical reasoning skills. On your rotations you will be joining teams of Band 8a Extended Scope Physiotherapists and Clinical Specialists, Band 7 Team Leads, Band 6 and other Band 5 Physiotherapists as well as excellent Band 4 and Band 3 Physiotherapy Technical Instructors. You will have excellent opportunities for your own development, working within a strong peer group.
This position is an excellent opportunity to start or further develop your Physiotherapy skills within dynamic, forward looking and innovative departments. We are a research active service with strong links to the Trust’s Research and Innovation Committee and local HEIs. We are continuing to develop and support local clinical research activity and provide support for those interested in developing clinical academic careers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To work as part of a Physiotherapy Team providing a high quality and comprehensive therapy service to patients.
- To work independently and autonomously as well as working as part of a team and seeking support from senior physiotherapists as required
- To carry out comprehensive and appropriate assessments of patients with a variety of conditions and possible complex conditions
- To develop treatment plans and carry out treatment of patients with a variety of conditions and complex needs. To evaluate these treatment sessions and modify appropriately.
- To take responsibility for own learning and to actively participate in CPD activities, IST, audit, evidence-based projects, and other activities aimed at enhancing the development of the individual and the service.
- To rotate working in a variety of clinical settings, usually for a period of 4 months. The areas included in this post are:
- Respiratory
- Musculoskeletal Outpatients
- Orthopaedics
- Medical wards
- Neuro
- Acute Admissions and Private Patients
- To work Physiotherapy out of hours services and maintain competence in these areas.

Qualifications/Registration
Essential criteria
- State Registration (HCPC)
- Portfolio of learning during training
- Degree/diploma in Physiotherapy
Desirable criteria
- Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
Experience
Essential criteria
- NHS experience in a Physiotherapy department
- Record of clinical placements within NHS setting as part of portfolio
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS B5 physio experience
