Main duties of the job

Role Summary and Purpose

    • To carry out deliveries and collections of laundry across a number of internal and external site locations as per schedules and times
    • To ensure compliance with client requirements and agreed delivery of service at all times
    • To work as part of a team to carry out deliveries of laundry, goods, and PPE as required and as per schedule
    • To carry out daily vehicle checks and complete basic vehicle maintenance tasks as required
    • To ensure compliance by accurately completing all driving records as per current legislation
    • To ensure all paperwork / electronic records are completed correctly, presented accurately and in a timely manner
    • Protect the Trusts Operating Licence by adhering to the undertakings of the Operator Licence.
    • Ensure that you work in a safe and controlled manner at all times

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

Communications and Relationship skills

  • Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with Trust Policy.
  • Take a leading role in any departmental Information Technology initiatives.
  • Provide advice and support to the Linen team.
  • Inform the Transport Manager of any vehicle defects
  • Advise the Transport Manager of any delays or incidences
  • Act in a professional manner at all times

 

Analytical and Judgemental skills

  • To maintain effective and efficient records of all Linen services, observing varying trends and evidencing them to the Laundry Manager.
  • Communicate daily with all users regarding any variation in services that may be required. Using judgement to rearrange priorities when necessary and in consultation with the Transport Manager and  Laundry Manager; implementing contingency plans as appropriate
  • Understand and adhere to procedures for dealing with complaints and ensure they are dealt with promptly and sympathetically.  Be capable of writing a report of an incident if required to do so.
  • Carry out thorough daily vehicle checks at the start and end of the shift
  • Record all elements of the working day by manual data entry via the driver digital tachograph card

 

Planning and Organisational skills

  • Attend briefing meetings with the Laundry Manager, and liaise with other Supervisors. To ensure operational continuity and appraise colleagues of any  logistical problems
  • Ensure daily working time and daily driving times are not exceeded in line with EU and WTD rules.
