Job overview
As a Health Care Assistant, the post holder will work as part of the Endoscopy team, ensuring an effective service is provided within the Endoscopy Unit across the Trust.

To assist with most of the Endoscopy procedures.

To carry out assigned task involving direct care in support of and supervised by a qualified Nurse or other health care professional.

To provide a quality service to both inpatient and outpatient in an environment in which patients are treated as individuals with dignity and respect.
Main duties of the job
-
Working in all Endoscopy Procedure rooms with support & training if required, including all aspects of role within the room.

Assist in Recovery Rooms carrying out the enhanced Band 3 role.

Be responsible in stocking up and cleaning Endoscopy equipment

Undertaking Endoscopy list in all areas of the Hospital

Moving to another area if the needs of the Trust requires this
-
Working over allocated time if the patient is compromised and cannot be discharged or moved to another area.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assist in the manoeuvring and positioning of patients and equipment in the theatre Rooms and Recovery.

Ensure patients safety, comfort, privacy and dignity is observed at all times.
-
Demonstrate good understanding of the Endoscopy procedure and the consent process. Ensure that a valid consent is obtained prior to any Endoscopy Procedures.

Identify patients’ individual dependency care needs and provide support for physical, psychological, and social requirements.
-
Provide patients’ emergency care in all areas of the Endoscopy department.
-
Ensure that any safeguarding issues are raised appropriately to lead Nurses to enable investigation in relation to vulnerable adults or children.

To maintain clear documentation regarding patients treatments, care and future plans of care.

Ensure that the Clinical Environment reflects a high standard of cleanliness, be proactive in response to any issues raised in cleaning audits or patients environment inspections.

Recognize own limitation and work only within the scope of professional practice and competence.
-
Contribute to the collection and proper labelling of all types of specimens in line with Trust protocols and Procedures.

Work in an effective and organized manner demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively deliver person- centered care

Report and share information regarding the patient’s condition, behavior, and responses pre/during/post Endoscopy procedures.

Work within others areas of the trust as requested.
