At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

A20 hour a week vacancy is available to join the Housekeeping Team at Bexhill Hospital / Irvine Unit

The vacancy is part time and is mornings:

Week 1 : Tuesday , Wednesday, Thursday, Friday  08.00-13.00 

Week 2 Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 08.00 - 13.00

The position works at the site to maintain excellent standards.

Main duties of the job

The role involves all types of housekeeping duties, in a clinical environment, please refer to the detailed job description and main responsibilities section.

We ae looking for Housekeepers with experience and with some flexibility in their working hours.

Working in the busy Community Estates and Facilities Team, there are always opportunities for additional hours. 

Full training will be given.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1.    Removal of all foul/soiled linen and refuse to designated areas following legislative requirements.

2.    The cleaning, changing and remaking of all patients’ beds/trolleys, where applicable.

3.    Cleaning of bed once vacated by the patient, where applicable.

4.    Dust control/vacuuming floors daily.

5.    Damp mopping floors daily.

6.    Damp dusting all fixtures, fittings and furniture daily.

7.    Cleaning of all sanitary fixtures and fittings daily.

8.    Replenish supplies as necessary.

9.    To undertake floor maintenance, i.e. buffing, as necessary.

10.  To undertake isolation/specialist cleaning as required.

11.  To clean all equipment and work areas within Housekeeping Department

12.  To ensure correct use of all materials, machinery, equipment and fittings as per policies and procedures.

13.  Collection of patients’ water jugs, catering glasses, wash and refill.

14.  Collection of meal trolley from kitchen, wipe top clean and take to designated area where applicable.

15.  Washing all beverage crockery at ward level where applicable.

16.  Collection of clearing trolley from ward, wipe clean and return to designated area.

17.   Prepare and distribute beverages to patients, including thickening of drinks when advised, in designated areas.

18.   Prepare and serve breakfast to patients, temperature probing of meals in accordance with Trust procedures. Assist with serving and distribution of lunch

19.  Maintain a clean, neat and tidy appearance following departmental policy.

20.  Receive and check stock deliveries from internal and external sources in accordance with departmental guidelines, where applicable.

21.  Complete daily/weekly compliance sheets and forward to Team Leader

22.  Report mechanical defects and repairs in conjunction with Team Leader.

23.  Ensure observation of hygiene legislation and internal policies.

24.  Attend in-service training as required.
