At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, we are on a continuous journey seeking motivated midwives to join our midwifery team at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, innovative and motivated midwives band 6 to join our Community team. 

The Maternity Unit is committed to promoting a holistic approach to care and quality improvement. Patient safety and service improvement is at the forefront of our philosophy and we seek to recruit staff who are motivated, to promote high standards of patient care and work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.  

Main duties of the job

To provide inclusive midwifery care that is woman focused and evidence based in the primary care setting covering the North Tees and Hartlepool localities, which will, in time, include working within a continuity of carer model in line with national recommendations.

You will be expected to act as a positive role model, mentor, preceptor and provide sound professional knowledge and support to junior members of the Community Team.

You will be expected to work autonomously within guidelines and the sphere of professional practice to implement individualised midwifery care in partnership with the women in your designated caseload.  You will provide intrapartum care to women requesting home birth and will maintain your intrapartum skills via regular structured updates on the main Labour Ward.

You will be able to provide continuity throughout the antenatal and postnatal period; whilst ensuring the woman’s physical, psychological, emotional and social needs are holistically cared for.

Effective multi-disciplinary working is essential and midwives are expected to communicate effectively to guarantee appropriate, safe care is delivered.

To achieve the highest possible standard of care ensuring that resources are utilised effectively and efficiently referring to the attention of the Line Manager recommendations.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will be supported by a comprehensive induction/orientation pack to enable a tailored transition into the Community setting ensuring you are equipped with the tools to enable you to undertake your role effectively.  

You will provide and coordinate antenatal and postnatal care for both traditional and CoC midwife led care models and consultant led women.

Duties will include:

* Maintain NMC registration and ensure that Revalidation is up to date. Practice in accordance with the NMC the Code and the Standards.

* Ensure that other NMC documents and Trust guidelines are adhered to. Maintain and develop professional knowledge and competence in accordance with NMC recommendations

* Plan and provide individualised care based on careful history taking, medical and social assessment as early in pregnancy as possible

* To promote and maintain standards of professional practice in order to enhance quality of care for clients
