With a budget of around £365m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.

The stop smoking advisor will be required to provide smoking cessation behavioural change advice, support and treatment to clients accessing the North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation trust Stop Smoking Service

Main duties of the job

Provide initial assessments, behavioural change support and prescribe, where required continued treatment to smokers in a range of settings including groups, drop in clinics and domiciliary visits.

 Support the work of the Specialist Advisors working with targeted populations e.g. pregnant women, those with chronic disease conditions, mental health service users.

 Provide update reports as required, disseminating key information to managers, colleagues and other professionals.

  • NMC Registered Nurse Level 1
  • Non Medical Prescriber
Desirable criteria
  • Motivational Interviewing

Experience

Essential criteria
  • recent NHS experience of Primary care / smoking cessation / community Nursing
  • Supporting learners/ mentoring
Desirable criteria
  • behavioural change programmes

Skills
