This is an exciting opportunity to provide communication and engagement support for University Hospitals Tees – a group partnership between North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
By working together the two trusts aim to deliver better healthcare services and improve patient care across the North East of England.
The trusts remain statutory entities in their own right, while they work in close partnership across both clinical and non-clinical services.
The post holder will work across all hospital group sites supporting the communication and engagement teams at both trusts and the hospital group project team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work across all hospital group sites supporting the communication and engagement teams at both trusts and the hospital group project team.
The role will help showcase the key advantages of the group model, including the shared vision and values, collaborative working and shared leadership team.
The role will also be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to engage with both internal staff and external stakeholders to share and explain the advantages of the group model and news from the group as it develops and grows over the coming few months.
It will involve having the skills to understand and present complex and potentially sensitive information and do so while using persuasion and negotiation skills. This post holder will need to make decisions about how to present messages to internal and external audiences, and which communication tool to use to do this to best effect.
The role will also involve excellent written skills, organisation, and the ability to create materials in a range of formats including for website, intranet, social media and other emerging media.
Among other requirements will be the need to organise and run engagement events, using excellent communication skills to interact with stakeholders such as staff, patient groups and local organisations.

Essential criteria
- Educated to degree standard
Desirable criteria
- Professional qualification in communications or marketing and/or membership of a relevant professional body and/or relevant professional experience
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of a communications (public relations) or marketing role
- Experience of using intranets, websites and social media as communications tools.
- Experience of dealing with journalists and media relations.
- Experience of producing communications campaigns and content.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of producing communications campaigns and content for patients and carers.
- Experience of working within NHS or other public sector organisation.
- Experience of communicating and engaging stakeholders during a period of significant change
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to tailor content and format to different audience needs.
- Demonstrable skills in building and maintaining positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders
