With a budget of around £365m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of Radiographic services in the main hospital sites of North Tees and Hartlepool as well as One Life in Hartlepool and Peterlee Community Hospital. Although this post will be based at the University Hospital of North Tees, the successful applicant will also be required to work across all hospital sites as and when required, in accordance with service needs.

We are continually expanding our services and have up to date digital equipment across all sites including digital mobile units  and wireless Fluoroscopic c-arm units at the main hospital sites.

We are looking for keen and enthusiastic Radiographers looking to expand and consolidate their experience to join our highly motivated Radiographic team. 

We feel our service is adaptable to suit the Radiographic team needs as we offer a range of shift patterns and flexible working.

37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications required for the role

The successful applicant must have the following qualifications:

  • English Language at GCSE Grade C or above, or Key skill Communication at level 2 (or equivalent)
  • MSc/BSc/Diploma in Diagnostic radiography
  • HCPC Registration

To contribute towards the provision of a high quality Imaging Service, whilst maintaining the highest quality standards of service and care.

Participate in cross-site working and extended working day and shift rotation to meet service needs.

Communicate relevant service, technical and condition related information to patients,  carers, all members of the radiology team and health care professionals and support  workers from other departments and wards.

Be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene. To undertake annual training/updates in infection prevention and control.

The post holder will take an active part in all aspects of the Departments work. They will become familiar with all techniques and procedures providing a high quality, professional radiography service at all times.

Participate in extended working day and shift rotation to meet service needs

Follow and observe Local rules for radiation Protection. To be familiar with and adhere to all Trust and Department Policies and procedures. Observe at all times codes of professional conduct.

Assess referrals against IR(ME)R criteria in order to justify the medical exposure of radiation to patients.

Practice a meticulous approach to patient documentation and the identification of radiographs. Be aware of patient confidentiality issues and ensure and promote good practice.

To actively participate in department QA, Audit and ‘Red Dot’ and radiographer commenting.

Plan and prioritise own clinical work-load. Adapt and ensure safe practice in different areas such as theatres, wards and resuscitation room.

Ensure all equipment is used with care and intelligence and all faults are reported to Senior Staff. Follow department procedures for routine cleaning and preparation of rooms.

To participate in the clinical training of student radiographers. To provide guidance to assistant practitioners and radiology support workers.
