Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a competent, confident, and enthusiastic full-time Band 7 Lead Physiotherapist to lead the Physiotherapy Team within Ridgway, Roseberry Park Hospital. The role covers all inpatient services within Ridgeway inclusive of Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism Wards. 

The role involves the clinical leadership and line management of a small physiotherapy team which includes: Physiotherapist(s) / Physiotherapy assistant and fitness instructors.

We are looking for a physiotherapist who can work flexibly to meet service need and has the vision, energy and inspiration to develop creative, imaginative solutions to delivering physiotherapy within Ridgeway.

The post holder will also manage a complex caseload independently, assessing and delivering specialist interventions, ensuring the highest professional standards of care are maintained and demonstrating adherence to the Trust Values at all times and operating as a leader in the team, service and organisation

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the delivery of Physiotherapy services across Ridgeway. 

To provide specialist advice to the physiotherapy team and other members of the multidisciplinary team and wider.

To be responsible for receiving complex requests for physiotherapy, triaging and prioritising these, completing evidence-based assessments and interventions.

To use client-centred approaches to co-producing negotiated goals and evaluate these with service users collaboratively.

To participate in and provide clinical/professional and management supervision

To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working

To contribute to and lead on service improvement and quality initiatives 

To use the Trust electronic patient record system

To abide by all Trust policies and procedures

To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges

The post holder will provide and lead the delivery of evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and interventions. 

All team members must be committed to providing the best possible care for the people we work with and their families/carers.

The ability to engage and communicate with working age adults as well as the parents/family/carers and system around them is essential. They must be able to demonstrate experience of delivery of physiotherapy,  keenness to continually develop themselves and others. We will support use of transferrable skills from a range of clinical settings. 

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSC in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Accredited Clinical Educator.
  • Clinical Supervisory Skills course.
  • Trust QIS (Quality Improvement System) for Leaders (or willingness to undertake within agreed timescale)
  • Evidence of current professional insurance cover
  • Trust training in Appraisal and Recruitment (or willingness to undertake within an agreed timescale
  • Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
  • Masters in a relevant subject
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial clinical experience in own service area
  • Experience of leading quality improvement activities
  • Participation in service development
  • Experience of leading clinical governance activities including clinical audit
  • Substantial experience in clinical supervision of staff

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Clearly articulate the role of the Physiotherapy Service to wide and diverse range of people.
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information in a manner appropriate to the individual and situation.
  • Solve complex clinical problems
