Job overview

The Orchard day services provides care to service users with profound and multiple learning disabilities, The service runs 5 days a week Monday to Friday.  The role will involve supporting with personal care needs, the assessment and monitoring of physical health issues and liaising with other professionals around any concerns.  This is an amazing opportunity for a HCA to gain new skills. 

Main duties of the job

We are currently looking for a Part Time Healthcare Assistant to work within our Middlesbrough day services. 

The individuals would be responsible for supporting adults with a learning disability who have associated physical health problems and Epilepsy 

We wish to recruit individuals who are flexible, enthusiastic and have a positive caring attitude towards our client group. The role will be varied and will include all aspects of care from implementing care plan delivery systems to promoting choice and client’s independence.

Our clients are looking for someone who will listen to them, help them, make them feel safe and support them to go out in the community as part of their treatment plans.

The successful candidate must have completed the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent.  Candidates must also have Literacy and Numeracy level 2 or equivalent and must complete the Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within their probationary period (first 6 months in role).

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience as a Band 2/3 HCA or equivalent in a relevant care environment
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working with people with physical health needs or learning disabilities.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Effective communication skills
  • Time management and ability to prioritise effectively
  • Competent in record keeping
  • Approved techniques in physical intervention (within agreed timescale)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Person centred care
  • Basic understanding of learning disability.

Qualifications
