The Wimborne  Community Nursing Team would like to welcome a Registered Nursing Associate to join our supportive team.

Working with people in their own homes is a privileged position - we continually invest in growing and developing our staff to ensure the very best care to people accessing our services is achieved.

This role involves caring for patients at home, providing complex wound care, injections, diabetic care, venepuncture, palliative care and other nursing needs as trained as a Registered Nurse Associate.

Working as part of a community team, including District nurses, community staff nurses, healthcare assistants and phlebotomists.

Providing care in patients homes to include providing complex wound care, injections, diabetic care, venepuncture, palliative care and other nursing needs as trained as a Registered Nurse Associate.

They will deliver planned care to a group of patients working within the standards of proficiency outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and in accordance with Trust policies and protocols.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.  Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of the Foundation Degree Nursing Associate Apprenticeship, including end point assessment.
  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register

Experience

  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
  • Previous experience of working within a health/social care setting

Skills

  • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal, and nonverbal communication) with patients, relatives/ carers and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of the workload and individual patient contact
  • Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with patients, their families, carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
  • Understand and act in line with NMC professional standards
  • Understanding of evidence based practice
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the service
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable the post holder to carry out the role effectively.
