Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 (pending matching) Patient Safety Administrator to join our excellent Quality and Safety team University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and this role will be based either at the Poole Hospital site.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. You will enjoy working as part of a busy team and be able to communicate effectively with various staff groups.
The post holder will support the Patient Safety team with a suite of administrative tasks and be one of the front facing members of the team taking a varied scope of enquiries from UHD colleagues. The post holder will be integral to supporting the function of the risk management system (Datix) including account queries and supporting the incident validation process.
The ideal candidate will be looking for an opportunity to develop their knowledge of the Quality and Safety landscape within a healthcare setting.
We would welcome applicants who have experience of working within healthcare or those with transferrable skills from outside the NHS.

Main duties of the job
To support and assist the Patient Safety Team in delivering the Trust’s Patient Safety agenda including updating and maintaining incident records on Datix.
Contribute to the efficient running of the Quality and Safety Department and provide general clerical and administrative support the Quality and Safety functions of the team.
Deal with routine matters relating to the Quality and Safety function, ensuring urgent work is brought to the attention of the Quality and Safety team leads as appropriate.
Contribute to the efficient running of the Learning Event Report Notification (LERN) system and the Trust Risk Register
Support data input, coding requirements and any other Datix administration requirement to enable UHD to comply with the national Learning from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE) system and other types of incidents reported on the LERN system.
The post holder will also support with assurance on compliance of monitored Quality and Safety metrics.
The role will support the Trust in embedding a culture of quality governance, patient safety, assurance and learning at all levels across the Trust to ensure the delivery of a high quality, safe, patient-centred service.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent. Able to produce evidence of a good basic education including numeracy and literacy skills.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable administrative experience to include working with databases.
- Extensive experience of data entry
Desirable criteria
- Datix trained / experience of using similar risk management database.
- NHS experience
- Taking accurate minutes of meetings
Technical Skills Competency
Essential criteria
- Advanced computer skills with experience of Microsoft Office applications
- Numerate and literate, able to undertake detailed data quality checks and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills including telephone manner.
- Good organisational skills
- Analyse data to identify trends and reasons for changes. Methodical, logical approach to work/tasks undertaken, displaying significant attention to detail.

- Experience with hospital systems i.e. EPR, ECAMIS, Agyle.
