Job overview

Band 3 Community Healthcare Assistant vacancy for Poole North District Nursing service. 

We are seeking  a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with good communication skills and a passion for caring for patients in their own homes.

Experience of clinical work in the community is desirable but training will be offered to the successful applicant.

There is an expectation that the successful candidate will undertake our in house development program for extended skills which will involve insulin administration,  administration of other injectables and catheterisation.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision and support from the team you will be required to visit patients in their own homes providing clinical care. Working as a Healthcare Assistant within the District Nursing Team you will visit patients in their own homes providing clinical care, including wound care, phlebotomy and extended skills once proficient.

To undertake care, following the instructions of the team leader or  nominated deputy according to the needs of the patients as identified on  the care plan, providing evidence based, high quality, holistic nursing  care for patients in their own homes and care homes

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Access to a car with a valid driving license is essential for this role. Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business.

Essential criteria
  • Willing and able to apply existing experience to community and gain necessary skills to work effectively in the community setting
  • Willing to professionally develop and undertake further development/training as identified to meet the needs of the service, including Trust Band 3 Extended Skills programme and Care Certificate
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Desire to work in the primary care setting.

  • Good IT skills
