This is a post for a part time (6 PA) Learning Disability Psychiatrist working in Ferndown and Purbeck areas of Dorset. The post holder will work primarily with the Ferndown and Purbeck Community Learning Disability Teams.
These provide comprehensive community-based services to patients registered with general practitioners within this area. There is also a multidisciplinary pan Dorset Learning Disability Intensive Support Team which supports CLDTs, and you will regularly attend their weekly review meetings.
Specialist epilepsy management for adults with LD is not part of the LD psychiatrist’s role in Dorset as this is provided by the consultant Neurology led Dorset Epilepsy Service.

CLDTs have multidisciplinary health staff with LD nursing, OT, physio and psychology staff and speech and Language therapy staff are shared across CLDTs. All health staff are employed by Dorset HealthCare.
