Job overview

We currently looking for a Mental Health Nursing Associate Band 4 (with professional registration) for our Rehabilitation Unit in Dorchester

Glendinning  is a 9 bedded, mixed gender community rehab unit set on the Maiden Castle site within walking distance to town centre. The unit supports people who have chronic and disabling mental health problems that may be treatment resistant, often providing a stepping stone for those who have previously spent long periods in hospital. We have another inpatient unit in the East of the county in Bournemouth.

Both inpatient teams work closely with our  Community Rehab Teams to provide a seamless transition from inpatient into the community, ensuring the patient is supported on this stage of their recovery journey.   Staff work hard to facilitate further recovery,  that  can include supporting self-medication,  gaining skills for more independent living such as cooking, shopping, budgeting and supporting individuals to access community activities (leisure and vocational).

This role requires a registered professional who is motivated, driven and passionate about developing an outstanding service for the individuals we serve.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Ward Manager in providing high quality nursing care and treatment of patients in conjunction with other professionals through the service’s multi-disciplinary assessment, treatment, interventions and care programmes, with a significant focus on their physical well-being.

It will include close liaison with family, carers, community teams, GP’s, and other professionals involved in the person’s care.

To work with people to help them acquire or regain the skills and confidence required for them to ultimately live in the community.  Focusing on addressing and minimising the symptoms and functional impairment that people may have, with an emphasis on achieving as much individual autonomy and independence as possible.

To develop therapeutic relationships with individuals and  engage them in collaborative and effective partnership working to achieve agreed goals.

To contribute to the provision of a daily structure and range of effective clinical interventions, so as to balance the therapeutic needs of the person with the need for support and security, and to promote their individuality and autonomy in the least restrictive environment.

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position
