Job overview

 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 2 or 3 Healthcare Assistant (depending on experience) with excellent communication skills to work as part of the Outpatient nursing team In the ENT/OMF department.

Outpatient’s is a diverse, multidisciplinary environment which requires flexible and adaptable skills, an aptitude to learn and a motivation to develop your own skills.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to give high quality nursing care and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will consistently ensure that a patient’s privacy, dignity and psychological well-being is maintained, and at all times, the care given is patient centred.

You need to have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. We require individuals who are forward thinking, well organised and with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.

The successful candidate may be  required to rotate through the other Outpatients areas, to support during times of A/L and sickness. Recent Outpatient Experience would be an advantage but not essential.

The working pattern is flexible, in order to meet the needs of the service. This includes weekend working.

Person specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in English and maths
  • Ability and willing to undertake training necessary for the post

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Band 2 role.
  • Recent Outpatient experience

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of good communication skills
  • Demonstrate and understanding of confidentiality
  • Is able to demonstrate a positive attitude towards improving patient care
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors
