Staff Nurse Band 5 Outpatients

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated Staff Nurses with excellent communication skills to work as part of the Outpatient nursing team. The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate an ability to provide high quality safe nursing care which is driven by patient experience and evidence based best practice.

Outpatients is a diverse, multidisciplinary environment which requires flexible and adaptable skills, an aptitude to learn and a motivation to develop your own clinical skills in line with progressive service delivery. This post is vital in supporting patients through their outpatient journey, as well as assisting with examinations and offering emotional support.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic trained nurse into  band 5 staff nurse posts to assist with in the delivery of high standards of care.  Outpatients hosts a variety of specialities in variety of Outpatient departments, South Walks House, Women's Health , Orthopaedics and Robert White Centre. Within this role you will have the opportunity to work across all Outpatient areas.

The successful candidates will be dealing with both staff and patient issues, therefore will be one who demonstrates enthusiasm and motivation, excellent team working skills and forward thinking.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Work autonomously undertaking holistic assessment examination in order to implement management plans for patients.
  • Use specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare to patients attending the outpatient department.
  • Participate in the delivery of formal and informal teaching for the nursing staff and act as a resource for education and development within the service
  • To work as part of the Nursing team in ensuring the delivery and maintenance of a high standard of care that is patient centred and evidence based.
  • To contribute towards the smooth running and development of the department through effective teamwork.
  • To contribute to the cleanliness and tidiness of the department’s environment.
  • Work within codes of practice and professional guidelines.

Person specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TR

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse.
  • Evidence of CPD.

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working outpatient environment
  • Understanding of professional and current issues in nursing.
  • Minimum of 6 months post registration experience.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of ability to practice as competent practitioner.
  • Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors.
  • Evidence of ability to manage time effectively and prioritise case load.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and its requirements especially risk management.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality.
