Job overview

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a motivated midwife to join our friendly maternity service. The right candidate will be an experienced midwife, with a genuine passion for governance, transformation and quality improvement

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist the senior management team in the development of the professional midwifery agenda to achieve consistency of practice, high standards of care and innovation with a strong patient safety focus. Leading the service in clinical governance and risk management, the post holder will ensure quality assurance achieving safety and clinical governance objectives within Maternity and Neonatal services. The postholder will play a key role in the delivery of the Maternity Incentive Scheme and the implementation of Saving Babies Lives and will assist the Deputy Director of Midwifery and Neonatal Services in the introduction and implementation of PSIRF

 

The post holder will provide a key link between Maternity and Neonatal services and the Corporate Governance team.

  • RM with experience of leadership experience
  • First Degree

  • PSIRF training

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in a senior midwifery post at Band 7 or above
  • experience of change management
  • experience of leading projects to conclusion
  • Experience in ensuring robust Clinical Governance strategy is in place in Women’s Services
  • Specialty specific knowledge including labour ward competencies, in high and low risk midwifery
  • Experience in standard setting and monitoring Able to demonstrate in depth knowledge and understanding of NHS Strategy and DOH initiatives
  • A superior understanding of the Maternity Incentive Scheme SBLCB and the Three Year Plan
  • Broad knowledge of legislation affecting the healthcare economy
  • knowledge to apply all aspects of clinical governance

apptitude and skills required

Essential criteria
  • Able to conduct investigations and draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Able to present persuasive argument and influence others from a multi professional background
  • Able to plan, organise and chair meetings ensuring action plans are in place
  • Ability to produce, analyse and comment on complex reports and policies considering their impact within the Trust
  • Able to request, analyse, present and interpret data and apply to practice situations and develop this skill in others
Desirable criteria
  • Be confident in using BadgerNet and other NHS digital systems
  • an understanding of complaints management
