The post has a core service purpose to support the safe delivery of care to the wards and acute unselected medical on call rota. It is recognised that access to specialty training posts can be limited and prior experience can be valuable. Exposure to a specialty at Registrar grade can help to clarify the level of interest in obtaining a training post and for some people the choice between specialties may not yet be fully formed.

The Trust has received positive and improving feedback from its junior doctors on GMC and deanery training surveys. The hospital has an active and inclusive doctors mess, who arrange frequent social activities. The hospital has a friendly ethos, with a good relationship between junior doctors and consultants.
