Full time - 37.5 hours
The role of the receptionist in main reception will be to provide comprehensive, effective and efficient reception support for Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are currently seeking a professional and well-presented individual to work within the facilities department as a main receptionist
The shift pattern is as follows - Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 - 37.5 hours a week.
Main duties of the job
The individual must be professional, reliable, have excellent interpersonal skills and with excellent written English skills. You should also have excellent communication skills.
Job role will include -
- Providing a professional and efficient reception service, greeting and signing in and out all visiting staff and visitors to the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust premises.
- Providing information to visiting staff and visitors regarding parking arrangements.
- Sorting and organising all incoming post to the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to agreed time schedules.
- Franking of outgoing external post and sorting of outgoing internal post according to agreed time schedules.
- Receiving and recording all external deliveries, Royal Mail and External Postal Couriers.
- Answering telephone calls to the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust premises in a polite and friendly manner and forwarding to the correct and relevant members of staff efficiently, in line with laid-down procedures.
- Providing information in response to internal and external enquiries, including those from the public and complainants.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • GCSE (grade C or above) in English and Maths or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working within a main reception environment
- • Experience of setting up and maintaining office systems.
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of working with a range of staff at all levels.
- • Experience in managing workload to meet deadlines and standards.
- • Experience of working with a franking machine
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Evidence of attention to detail and the ability to work without close supervision within broad procedural guidelines.
- • Evidence of ability to make decisions within defined boundaries
- • Evidence of ability to work as part of a team.
- • Evidence of managing own workload
Desirable criteria
- • Evidence of ability to communicate effectively with the general public and colleagues across a range of issues.
- • An understanding of confidentiality and its place in the NHS
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
