Band 6 Renal Dietitian

We have an exciting opportunity for a Dietitian with a particular interest in Renal Dietetics or experience in this field to join our supportive renal dietetic service and an expanding Dietetic service.
You will be a key member of the Dorset County Hospital Kidney Multidisciplinary team. The service covers Dorset County Hospital inpatients, clinics and dialysis units in Dorchester, South Somerset (Yeovil) and in East Dorset (Poole & Bournemouth) as part of the Dorset Renal Service.
This is a permanent position 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday (although part time or job share may be considered).
For the successful candidate, this post will also include the support of a relocation package and a one off ‘Warm Welcome’ payment of £2500.
Main duties of the job
You will work with a fantastic and forward thinking team of Renal Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Administrators, Podiatrists and Healthcare Assistants. You will be based with them at Dorset County Hospital in the beautiful County town of Dorchester, with outreach to other local hospitals. You will also be part of the Trust’s Dietetic department, benefitting from easy access to and peer support from Dietitians working across a range of specialities.
- As an HCPC registered Dietitian, provide expert renal service to the MDT.
- Engage with, advise and train other healthcare professionals involved in the care of renal patients.
- Influencing on developing renal dietetic services through Quality Improvement projects.
- Work as a member of the Dietetic Department, in the promotion of a high-quality patient-focused service and contributing to service development and cover.

education, qualifications and training
Essential criteria
- BSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent qualification as a dietitian
- Current registered dietitian status with HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Basic training in communication and behaviour change
- Critical appraisal skills training
- Evidence of CPD
- Clinical supervisory skills course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum 18 months post registration with experience of working across a range of clinical areas within a UK setting including in- and out-patient settings, acute and community
- Range of clinical specialities seen during practical training ideally including renal dietetics.

Desirable criteria
- Experience of Planning, delivering and evaluating teaching of groups

- Knowledge of evidence based practice in a range of dietetic conditions seen within acute practice
- Evidence of interest in renal dietetics
- Able to implement the BDA Nutritional Care Process
- Competent written communication skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work alone and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of confidentiality as it relates to dietetic practice
- A working knowledge of Microsoft and NHS computer systems
- An understanding of audit and research in relation to dietetic practice
- Evidence of ability to use initiative but recognise limits
- Knowledge of the BDA and HCPC standards that govern dietetics
Desirable criteria
- Sound clinical knowledge relating to oral and enteral nutrition support
- Basic knowledge relating to parenteral nutrition support
- Evidence of excellent time management skills, flexibility, adaptability to prioritise work, use initiative to complete projects and meet deadlines
- Understanding of clinical governance as it relates to dietetic practice
- Able to travel to community settings for outreach work.
