Job overview

The post holder will be a member of the therapies administration team to ensure an efficient service is provided for adult patients and their carers attending clinics. They will also provide assistant cover to various therapies classes.

 

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the team to ensure the delivery of a high quality service. They will require the utilisation of good secretarial, clerical, communication and interpersonal skills.

A polite and helpful first point of contact for patients, staff, and visitors to the Therapies Department at Weymouth Community Hospital and the Outpatient Therapies Centre in Charlton Down. To make patient appointments. To deal with enquires from patients, staff and visitors including by telephone, email, and face to face. The accurate sending and receiving of electronic data using hospital systems such as PAS and DPR.

Person specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English at Grade C or above.
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with computer systems, to include Microsoft Office, in a working/academic environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a health care setting.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of secretarial skills.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills both written and oral.
  • Evidence of ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Evidence of flexibility and ability to adapt to different areas of work.
  • An understanding of the meaning of confidentiality and the requirement for this to be maintained.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of ability to respond quickly to changing priorities organising and prioritising own workload to meet deadlines.
  • Evidence of ability to exercise judgment when dealing with patient queries and to analyse and resolve patient problems.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships within a team.
  • Understanding of medial terms.
