This post is for a full-time Trust Grade Doctor at CT1 level.  It is an excellent opportunity to experience working in psychiatry. 

The post is suitable for any doctor who has completed foundation training, or equivalent – some experience in psychiatry will be helpful, but is not essential. The postholder will be given time for professional development and will be supported in planning the next steps in their career.

The postholder will be work in the Home Treatment Team (HTT) East, based at St Ann's Hospital, and on inpatient wards at St Ann's Hospital, depending on service needs.  Their supervisor will be Dr Domenico Scala, a consultant in HTT East, and medical lead for acute inpatient services. 

Working hours will be 9am-5pm on weekdays, excluding public holidays, with protected education time on Tuesday afternoons. The postholder will be expected to report exceptions to their working hours, to ensure that their flexible working arrangements do not result in breaches to their terms and conditions. 

The post is available from now and will end on 4 Feb 2025. 

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work in the Home Treatment Team East, based at St Ann's Hospital, and on inpatient wards at St Ann's Hospital, at a CT1 level. The post will demand flexibility and autonomy, alongside clinical and personal maturity. 

The postholder will work with multi-disciplinary teams, under the supervision of consultant psychiatrists.

The postholder will assist in the assessment of the mental and physical health of patients, their on-going management, and discharge arrangements.  The work will involve liaison with colleagues in community teams, general hospitals and primary care, and completion of discharge summaries and other clinical correspondence.  

The postholder will participate in junior doctor on-call rota. 

The postholder will provide cross cover for annual, study and emergency sick leave with the core trainee on Haven Ward.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • FY2 competencies, or equivalent outside the UK
  • Experience of working in psychiatry
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in the NHS
