Job overview

The Liaison Psychiatry Team provide assessments and support to service users referred to our service by the general hospital wards.

We are looking to recruit an administrator to our team. You will be required to have excellent communicate and interpersonal skills, as day to day you will be required to interact with a number of different people, and are often the first point of call when contacting our service.  In additional to customer care skills you be need to demonstrate excellent IT skills. You must be able to work accurately under pressure, whilst remaining calm, and be able to work well as part of a team. You will be working within a team of administrators who provide a comprehensive administrative service across the Poole and Bournemouth sites. The role is office based.

Employment in this post requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.  Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Main duties of the job

To provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to both Liaison Psychiatry teams at Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals, to include: providing requested correspondence, referrals to service, reports, the organisation of meetings/conferences and faxing, photocopying and e-mailing services in an efficient and timely manner.

Educational Requirements / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education eg: GCSEs
  • RSA level or equivalent qualification
  • Good standard keyboard skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficient in MS word
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of working with spreadsheets e.g.: Excel
  • Good standard keyboard skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficient in MS word

  • Good standard keyboard skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficient in MS word
  • Well developed skills in communicating effectively with service users and other professionals
  • Able to demonstrate good time management and organisational skills

  • Additional training in office packages
  • Experience of working in an office environment/ administrative role.
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS or other Healthcare environment including higher education (healthcare)

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
