We have an exciting opportunity for a band 8B Clinical Lead and manager to take the helm of the Specialist CAMHS Care Adoption and Permanency Service.  The core service consists of a dedicated and highly valued team of clinical psychologists  offering training, consultations and direct interventions to carers for our local Councils’ Fostering & CiC Services,  and to our local adoption agency - Aspire Adoption.  In addition, the post holder will lead specialist provision in core CAMHS clinics and Dorset Council's Harbour Service (based on the No Wrong Door Model),  

The Service comprises of specialist practitioners committed to best care and positive outcomes for our children and young people through drawing on trauma informed and relational approaches.  Increasing Social Work psychological capacity and practice is valued alongside consultation, formulation, interventions and support to the team around the child.

Key relationships with Fostering, Adoption and children’s Social Care Service Managers and their Team Managers is essential. We are looking for a resilient Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about bringing a psychological perspective to the teams working with our most vulnerable, complex children.  The post holder therefore needs to be confident and experienced in working within the field of adoption and children in care and aspire to lead and develop the service.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide clinical and strategic leadership, specialist knowledge, supervision and consultation.  They will be responsible for the running of the service, including line management of staff,  clinical governance and compliance. 

Key relationships with Fostering, Adoption and children’s Social Care Service Managers and their Team Managers is essential. Excellent clinical and strategic leadership and communication skills in this demanding post are essential. The post holder will need to be able to work under pressure and therefore have good self-care skills.

This post is part of the wider Child and Families services provided by Dorset Healthcare NHS Trust. The post holder will work closely, and be supported by, the senior clinical and operational leadership group in CAMHs. You will be part of the Clinical Leads forum established in CAMHs which includes the leads in CAMHs and is lead by the CAMHs Clinical Lead Psychologist. Clinical Supervision will be provided by the Lead Psychologist and operational support by a senior manager in CAMHs.

This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only.  Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.
