Job overview

 Band 5 Paediatric staff nurse  , caring for children in the emergency setting. Including medical, trauma, mental health and safeguarding presentations.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Working with children in the emergency department within both medical and trauma situations.

caring for children age 0-16, in aspects of safeguarding , trauma and medical

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Proven evidence of recent Continuing Professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrable Venepuncture / Cannulation skills.
  • Intravenous therapy skills
  • ECG

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • Proven NMC Registered Nurse.
  • Proven RSCN / Part 15
  • Proven Diploma qualification in a healthcare related subject / or equivalent experience.
  • Proven Mentors Course or prepared to attend
Desirable criteria
  • Computer literate (ECDL).
  • Relevant post basic leadership course.

APTITUDE & ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, instruct and direct others.
  • Teaching and mentoring skills. •
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate potential management abilities.
  • Ability to facilitate change within the work area.

DISPOSITION / ATTITUDE / MOTIVATION

Essential criteria
  • • Works in a calm and organised manner and develops a team approach. • Ability to manage exposure to sometimes violent, distressing and unpleasant situations
Desirable criteria
  • • Interest/ demonstrable experience with the speciality

OTHER FACTORS

Essential criteria
  • • Internal rotation. • Post holder will be expected to work with both children and adults in the paediatric area, resus, majors and minors as dictated by the workload
