Job overview

Warrington Ward is a fast-paced acute surgical ward caring for multiple specialties: ENT, Gynaecology, Head and Neck Cancer, Facial Maxilla surgery and General Surgery.

As a Registered Nurse with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, you will be working together as part of a multidisciplinary, professional team to assess care needs, and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership and resilience skills. Be able to co-ordinate the ward autonomously, achieve effective patient flow while maintaining patient and staff safety at all times

Main duties of the job

  • Independently manage a patient allocation of 8/9
  • Administer medications.
  • Escalate patient care.
  • Be responsible for ones own learning and development.
  • Supervise and manage learners.
  • Work as as part of an Multi disciplinary team.
  • Partake in MDT and SAFER
  • Advocate for your patients and be involved in best interest decisions. 
  • Supporting the wider family members through clear communication. 

 

 

Working for our organisation

Warrington ward is a 17 bedded surgical ward with the following specialties:  ENT, head and Neck cancers, Facial Maxilla Surgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology and general Surgery.  The ward is fast paced with a high daily turn over with an average patient length of stay 2-3 days. 

 The ward is a great place to practice extended skills, learn new skills whilst role modelling and leading a diverse team.
