Job overview
Our Arranging Support Team Broker will liaise directly with clients, carers, providers and care management staff whilst coordinating and negotiating packages of care to obtain the best care whilst ensuring value for money.
They will also have a key part to play in ensuring they raise contracts for the services swiftly and accurately, and when required provide advice and guidance to the Social Care Team members.
Main duties of the job
- · Receive care service requisitions from care management teams through the PARIS system
- · Clarify service requirements with care management staff, clients and providers to ensure clarity of expectations
- · Develop an understanding and awareness of all the resources available to meet the needs of the clients of Torbay, including commissioned and community services
- · Raise individual service contracts for all services arranged
- · Review contracts in place and ensure contracts are ended, voided or amended in an appropriate timely manner
- · Participate in other shared team responsibilities according to the service requirements
- · Ensure clients receive the most appropriate support in a timely manner, whilst adhering the Trust’s contractual obligations

The Arranging Support Team is new in its function to The Trust and is responsible for researching, and compiling a range of personal support options to promote independence and maintain wellbeing in line with Torbay’s model of care.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To interpret service requests and information as required, ensuring accuracy and good spelling
To develop an understanding and awareness of all the resources available to meet the needs of the clients of Torbay, including commissioned and community services.
To take advice from the Arranging Support Team Lead and care management staff in instances of requests for variations to the care packages being directly requested by clients, their cars or providers

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- NVQ4 in business or administration or relevant experience
- •GCSE in English and Maths
- Competent Advanced IT skills
- Evidence of literacy and numeracy achievements

Desirable criteria
- •Evidence of consistent pattern of learning from education, training and experience.
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Understanding of care management processes and contractual principals
- Awareness of the Care Act
- Awareness of the Market regarding Care provision
- Negotiating skills
- Accurate recording and reporting
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Knowledge of computerised software e.g. excel, word
- Experience of working in a pressurised environment
Desirable criteria
- Familiarity of the Trust’s processes and IT systems
- Understanding/familiarity of the Trust’s contracting systems
- Knowledge of Torbay care market
Specific Skills
Essential criteria
- Proven experience of working with the public/clients
- Good communication skills ability to explain complex contractual information regarding packages of care to non-financial staff/managers
- Good organisational skills and ability to deal with incoming information in a confidential and sensitive manner
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with PARIS and finance systems
- Experience of working in a social/health care setting
