Job overview

Our Library Clerk will assist in maintaining a high standard of support service to the directorates and departments throughout Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, with their requirements regarding patients’ case notes.

Main duties of the job

• Delivering high volumes of patient records to various departments around the Hospital
• Adhering to the Health Records delivery schedule
• Involve repetitive heavy lifting of patient records in boxes and bags
• When working in the library there will be an expectation to retrieve and file 
case notes accurately and in a timely manner 
• Ability to work under pressure both independently and as a team player

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To maintain accuracy when pulling and filing case notes within the Health Records Library.
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Pulling and filing of case notes within the Health Records Library.
  • Tracering, sending and delivering case notes in Medical Records boxes/bags.
  • Delivering and collecting case notes from various pick up points throughout the hospital.
  • Moving boxes of records to dispatch areas.
  • Answer and action requests from the A&E telephone.
  • Cover the service desk and action requests.
