Job overview

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is looking for additional doctors to work in as part of the multidisciplinary team (HCAs, Nurses, Paramedics, Non-Medical Prescribers) at our Tiverton Urgent Treatment Centre. The UTC sees a variety of injuries and 
illnesses, offering x-ray and point of care testing. We aim to provide care closer to home and relieve pressure on the urgent and emergency care system.

Main duties of the job

Key aspects of the role will include:
• Face to face consultations directly with patients, relatives and/or their carers
• Providing risk-based patient focused care 
• Working as part of our clinical team to provide primary care support 
• Undertake appropriate prescribing
• Use point of care diagnostics to support decision making
• Onward referral of patients as appropriate 
• Contribute to a positive team ethos

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council on the General Practitioner list or Specialist list (Emergency Medicine)
  • Experience of primary healthcare in the diagnostic light setting
  • Skilled at managing clinical risk
  • Demonstrate clear ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team
  • Clinical experience of urgent & emergency care

Desirable

Essential criteria
  • Experience of emergency medicine or ambulatory care
  • Minor injury x-ray interpretation and fracture management
  • Fracture manipulation and reduction
  • Experience of minor surgery including wound closure and suturing
  • Advanced life support or intermediate life support
