This is an exciting time to join University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.
Following significant investment by the Trust board as part of a 5-year workforce plan, we are able to offer the post of a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician – Homecare.
Working in a team of experienced and dedicated team members, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a team that manages Homecare services across a wide variety of therapy areas, including Dermatology, Rheumatology and Neurology.
The post holder will have the opportunity to be involved in leading a team of specialist pharmacy support assistants providing medicines, ancillaries, and nursing to more than 5,000 patients across Devon and Cornwall.

Depending on the stage of your career, further study will be encouraged and there will be the opportunity to complete the PWDS Homecare Screening Programme and attend PPSA Homecare meetings to find out more about how Homecare services are managed regionally.

Main duties of the job
· To support Homecare services for University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.
· To support in the management of invoicing and statement of accounts from homecare providers.
· To support the management and resolution of incidents and complaints.
· To support the management of Senior Pharmacy Support Assistants (SPSAs) in day-to-day work and training.
· To support prescription management.
· To ensure BlueTeq requirements are adhered to as part of the Homecare process.
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is the largest hospital on the Southwest Peninsula providing comprehensive secondary and tertiary care to a population of around 2,000,000 people who can access our specialist services including cardiothoracic surgery, kidney transplantation, neurosurgery, and the regional trauma Centre. Our specialist cancer treatments include bone marrow transplant, sarcoma surgery and hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancer surgery (not exhaustive). We work closely with our community partners in delivering comprehensive health and social care including general practice, care homes, mental health, neurological rehabilitation, and general medicine.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Homecare Administration
- To co-ordinate Homecare processes in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, safe working systems, and the legal framework for the Supply of Medicines.
- To maintain the EMIS drug files for prices, removal of out of use templates, contract reference maintenance and contract pricing.
- To manage new drug file requests
- To ensure SOPs and Forms are regularly updated on Q-Pulse and to notify staff of changes.
- To manage/support the appropriate electronic archiving of Homecare documentation.
- To help with patient transitions when new contracts are awarded.
- To manage the complaints and incidents process and distribute prior to PPSA meetings.
- To manage IV Antimicrobial & HPN referrals.
- To support the Lead and Senior Pharmacy Technicians with reporting into relevant quality management systems.
- To manage/support the daily Homecare Team huddle and attend other relevant huddles.
- To manage the generic email and efficiently and effectively resolve queries.
- To support the investigation and resolution of Datixes, and the reporting of deviations.

Essential criteria
- Pharmacy Technician, registered with the GPhC.

- Accredited Checking Technician

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
