An opportunity has arisen to join University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Hotel Services team as a Catering Supervisor / Team Leader with the Catering Department situated at an off-site location in Estover.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for customer satisfaction and food safety who can work in a Supervisory role as part of a busy Site Services Department and Catering team, within a kitchen environment.

We have 2 x 37.5hr full time positions available working 5 out of 7 days which will include alternate weekends. The successful applicant needs to be flexible and may be required to work various other shifts including Bank Holiday’s.

 

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

 

Main duties of the job

         A working Supervisor for the Catering Department predominantly at an offsite location which requires supervision to support day to day operations within catering as designated by the manager at any given time.

     To provide friendly and efficient support, demonstrating high standards of customer          service at all times that meets the expectations of the patients, staff, members of the        public and the Trust both in terms of quality, safety, and value for money.

      The Supervisor will also be required to visit external sites and wards to ensure that Food Safety requirements are met, as directed by the Manager. Ensure a friendly, efficient, and courteous service is provided to both internal and external customers demonstrating high standards of customer service and food quality at all times. Manage food safety and hygiene standards within the department and ensure effective monitoring of the Food Safety Policy and standards. To ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained in the department and ensure effective implementation of Health and Safety policies and procedures.  To actively encourage a safety culture.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·         Ensure cleanliness of catering and service equipment including work surfaces, and related equipment manually and by use of machines to hygiene standards

·         There may be a requirement to cover for the Kitchen Manager in times of absence.

·         To maintain Food Safety and Hygiene standards in your work area and apply the food safety procedures applicable in the work areas.

·         To correctly use and take care of all equipment and materials associated with tasks and immediately report any faults to a supervisor.

·         Ensure all relevant cleaning schedules are adhered to and signed on completion daily

·         Participate as a full member of the team, e.g. supporting and training other staff, participating in team meetings, working flexibly as required to cover other members of the team.

·         Requirement to drive Company vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and to carry out routine checks of vehicles.

·         Store goods correctly and use stock on a rotational basis to optimise efficiency and minimise food wastage.

·         Demonstrate high standards of customer service through courteous interaction with patients and trust staff to optimise patient food and beverage consumption.

·         Ensure that all work is carried out in line with Health and Safety, Quality and Trust policies and procedures and all documentation and work records are completed accurately.

·         Undertake other ad hoc duties as prescribed by Manager and within scope of skill and capability.
