Digital Benefits Manager - EPR

Job overview

Benefits realisation is a vital strategic driver for any programme, digital or otherwise. Benefits must be defined, measured, monitored, reviewed and reported throughout the lifecycle of every programme and into service through defined benefits management to ensure the expected benefits have been achieved and to what degree. The post holder will work closely with the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Programme Team and the Business-as-Usual clinical system leads to monitor key metrics against the benefits forecast for the digital EPR programme. This will involve extensive audit and data reporting activity, comparison with pre-transition baseline data and engagement with stakeholders. The post holder will provide regular high-quality reports and updates on benefits realisation status and progress of the EPR programme to various stakeholders across the Trust including the Chief Digital Officer, Programme Board and to NHS England as required. The post holder will work with the clinical system leads to identify potential reasons where the level of benefit realisation falls below expectations and formulate improvement plans where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

Support the development and delivery of the One Devon Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Programme for all the Trust’s service areas.

 

To work towards a successful delivery of the One Devon EPR Programme based on the outcomes from each workstream.

 

Adhering to Trust & department procedures and policies in keeping with best practice guidelines and National requirements, e.g. Data Protection Act 1998, monitoring compliance and providing support and training to the team.

 

To liaise and work effectively with external and internal partners in respect of joint working, shared system use, comparison of data and working towards agreed objectives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1   To work as one of the One Devon EPR Programme team with the provision to make changes based on information outcomes from the programme and ascertain benefits.

2  To carry out governance assurance on the programme and report findings.

3     To ensure the programme is kept up to date in the light of developing national guidance/documentation and standard definitions.

4     Develop, maintain and update documentation of changes for the One Devon EPR Programme around benefits.

5    To ensure the benefits of the programme are documented, gathered and measured.

6   To support in the facilitation of workshops in order to identify current and future state processes in relation to use of clinical systems for work flow processes and identify benefits.

7     Suggest changes needed to Trust policies and procedures which impact on use of IT.

8    Maintaining effective communications between programme team, clinical and operational teams, reporting back regularly on needs and related issues.

9     To explore the use of new technology and techniques in order to improve clinical systems and maximise programme effectiveness.

1  Responsible for organising own workload daily, ensuring all priority activities resolved or escalated.

1  Prioritise workloads to ensure critical programme activities are carried out which may require an adjustment to prioritises.

.  Provide temporary cover to maintain business continuity during periods of absence when a Workstream Lead is unavailable, with support from the duty line manager.

Person specification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a digital transformation programme and/or change environment
  • High level of computer literacy (including use of the internet and other appropriate programmes such as Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
  • Strong PC skills including advanced use of Microsoft packages
  • Ability to work closely with people in other disciplines and form professional working relationships
  • Demonstrable experience of effecting change
  • Understanding of clinical and operational processes within a large clinical setting, the public sector or health setting

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree at Masters level in a clinical discipline, IM&T or similar or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in audit or clinical data analytics or equivalent demonstrable experience
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in project management or equivalent demonstrable experience
