Electronic Care System Clinical Data Analyst

Job overview

We have a great opportunity for an experienced and adaptable Data Analyst to come and join our small but friendly team in Clinical Information Systems. You will be working alongside other Clinical Information Professionals and be responsible for leading on clinical data analytics. 

The successful candidate will be based at our HQ in Exeter on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 2-3 days expected in the office each week, and occasional travel across trust sites.

Reporting to the Clinical Information Systems Manager, you will be responsible for providing data manipulation and analytical services, including monitoring of trends, correlation, and pattern identification to aid organisational intelligence and service maintenance and improvement tasks / projects via the trusts Electronic Care Systems and other systems / datasets.

You will analyse and report on data relating to Clinical Information Systems, including:

  • System configuration using Supplier Admin. Tools and other systems and data.
  • User access and system security using Supplier Admin. Tools and other systems and data.

You will use the systems and databases to extract information and you will present this to colleagues and partners in a meaningful way to enable effective evidence-based decision making

Main duties of the job

To work within the Clinical Information and Records Office, and alongside the Research and Audit Team and other relevant functions, to explore and apply the effective uses of clinical and other data and support the local, regional and national reporting requirements of the Trust.  This will include:

  • Maintaining effective relationships with system users and Trust partners to support the development, maintenance and monitoring / analysis of system activity and interaction.
  • Using clinical data, clinical information systems and expert analysis and interpretation to support problem solving and evidence-based decision making.
  • Playing a pivotal role in team activity and road map direction, including discussion and group activity, idea generation and overcoming challenges.
  • Ensuring that your knowledge and skills remain at a high standard and develop new skills to meet the ongoing demanding and challenging situations of a busy, ever-changing healthcare system.
  • Using expert knowledge and skills to support and train colleagues and provide team resilience when required.
  • Maintaining an exceptional library relating to new or amended processes and procedures, including analysis and reporting. This includes the development of user guides, instructions, and intelligent learning processes.
  • Helping to administer and service the clinical databases.
  • Supporting the Trust’s clinical information needs through the development of understandable and relatable reports.

Previous Experience (Paid/ unpaid relevant to job)

Essential criteria
  • Qualified to degree level in an IT related subject or extensive experience in the field.
  • Highly numerate, computer literate and practiced in data manipulation and analytical techniques
  • Current Full Driving License.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and later including TSQL, Stored Procedures and functions with experience designing and developing SQL reports.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and Integration Services.
Desirable criteria
  • An understanding of the NHS
  • Working knowledge of supplier admin. Tools
  • SQL database administration experience
  • Previous experience of using PowerBI
