Lead Practitioner, Emotion Regulation Pathway (Adult Care Community)

NHS AfC: Band 6

Want to make a real difference and have a truly rewarding career?  Join 'Team Derbyshire Healthcare' and become part of a talented, compassionate and enthusiastic workforce committed to a vision of ‘making a positive difference in people's lives’.

We’ve been rated ‘good’ overall by the CQC, with some outstanding services.  The CQC commented at our most recent inspection on how our colleagues “treated patients with compassion and kindness” and “felt positive and proud about working for the trust.

We are passionate about making equality, diversity and inclusion part of our DNA. We take pride in our “People First Culture” which creates a workplace where everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging, difference is celebrated, and people are comfortable to bring their whole selves to work. We value the richness that comes from having colleagues that are fully representative of the local community. We welcome people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, protected characteristics, and with all backgrounds and experiences.

Trosolwg o'r swydd

We are looking for compassionate and highly motivated mental health nurses, occupational therapists and social workers, who wish to develop their psychotherapeutic and case management skills.

This particular post is based in the Killamarsh CMHT, and you will also be a part of  our trust-wide Emotion Regulation Pathway team.  We are a psychologically informed and multi-disciplinary service for people with 'personality  difficulties', and particularly problems managing themselves in the context of relationships with other people.

Drawing on the best available evidence for effective treatments, we have created a clear, structured pathway within each CMHT, comprising referral, assessment, socialisation, treatment and discharge phases.

You will be provided with high quality training in SCM, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and related psychologically informed approaches, and also regular supervision to build your own skills and effectiveness and support your wellbeing.

Successful applicants will work with a small case load utilising the SCM model to enhance problem solving and crisis planning and develop skills in managing emotions, improving relationships and reducing impulsive behaviour.

SCM is an evidence-based approach incorporating both individual and group work that enables generalist mental health practitioners to work effectively with people meeting criteria for diagnosis with borderline personality disorder.

SCM has been adopted by many NHS Trusts and is supported by NHS England and NHS Improvement.

Clinical work will involve: building effective therapeutic relationships with a focus on curiosity and validation; structured assessment leading to a shared formulation of the maintenance of problems and identification of the person’s own goals; co-produced safety plans which actively involve service-users in managing their risks; weekly problem-solving, focussed individual sessions; and group sessions focussing on developing understanding through shared experiences and skills building.

You will develop expertise in this area and provide a consultative and supportive role to colleagues within the wider CMHT in working compassionately and effectively with our client group.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

You will be joining a passionate and motivated, multi-disciplinary Emotion Regulation Pathway team of mental health nurses, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists and soon to be social workers.

We are committed to developing our own awareness and skills, supporting each other, and reflecting on our work in order to continue to develop and provide high quality, effective and accessible services.

You will also join the wider 'Team Derbyshire Healthcare' and become part of a talented, compassionate and enthusiastic workforce committed to a vision of ‘making a positive difference in people's lives’. You will also be supported by relevant professional leads.

CQC rated us as 'GOOD’ overall, commenting on how our colleagues “treated patients with compassion and kindness” and “felt positive and proud about working for the trust.”

Benefits include:

  • Commitment to flexible working where this is possible
  • 27 days annual leave/year plus bank holidays, increasing to 29 days after 5 years & 33 days after 10 years’ service
