Job overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join us at Ilkeston Community Hospital.
You will maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the Catering Department and serve meals and functions to patients, staff and visitors to the Trust, ensuring that Food Hygiene Regulations and Health & Safety at Work policies and procedures are complied with.
You will also provide a catering service in line with patient nutrition and hydration and will play an integral part in delivering outstanding patient care at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust (DCHS).
The hours of work are either 8.30am - 3.30pm or 1:00pm to 7 :00pm 4 days over a 7 day period
Main duties of the job
To wash crockery and cooking utensils in order to assist in providing a safe and hygienic catering operation.
Responsible for putting stores away, including stock rotation and keeping all storage areas clean and tidy in line with the Food Hygiene Regulations.
Removal of all refuse and rubbish into the appropriate waste streams including food waste and waste oil and replenishing and cleaning of all refuse bins located in the area.
To ensure high standards of both personal and food hygiene are maintained and ensuring all relevant departmental policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
To ensure all labelling is accurate and appropriate.
Service of food and beverages to patients, staff and visitors as required.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
