Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for;

Job overview

The Women's and Children's Division at UHDB is a diverse and exciting Division, managing urgent and emergency care, maternity and elective care pathways in women's and children's health, across multiple sites in two ICBs. We are looking for an innovative and experienced leader to join our team as the Deputy Divisional Director. This is a key role in the senior leadership team and will have a portfolio that drives operational performance and strategic and transformational change in a range of services.

As part of the leadership team you will oversee 1,400 staff with a budget of £105million covering services in Paediatrics, Gynaecology, Maternity and Neonatal care.  We will need you to be inspirational, creative and credible, capable of delivering programmes of work that involve changing processes but also have subject matter experience in managing large and complex elective services within the NHS Constitutional Waiting Time Standards.

 You will also be influential in the Maternity and Neonatal Improvement Programme, a pivotal priority for the Trust in ensuring that safe, quality and effective maternity care is delivered to the cohort of 9,000 women and birthing people that access our service every year.

The role will be a challenging one but a rewarding one and will provide you with the satisfaction that your work and your influence are driving sustainable solutions in improving patient care to the women and children of Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Main duties of the job

You will develop and assist with the implementation of both short- and long-term business and transformational plan to meet local, regional and national agendas. Deliver safe, personal and effective care as part of a partnership between managerial and clinical staff. Take a leading role in ensuring robust and accurate data validation within the Division.

High level professional, strategic and operational leadership for over 3,700 members of staff, building performance capability to ensure the delivery of high-quality care for our patients. This Division has an expenditure budget of approximately £210m, an income of £282m so you will be setting the direction to achieve challenging performance and financial targets.

A key dimension of the role will be to engage Clinical Managers in the complex management agenda including the preparation of seasonal plans and the development of capacity and capability to deliver both local and national priorities.

You will be responsible in this influential role for leading the management team in representing our values and culture, have a passion for operational delivery and for patient care, together with excellent business acumen. A proven track record of innovation and success in senior operational and clinical management roles is essential, including high levels of engagement with staff and external system partners.
