Do you currently work as a Specialist Renal Dietitian, or are you interested in developing your skills further within this area? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with specialist dietetic experience to come and join our friendly team of 4 renal dietitians and a dietetic assistant practitioner working within our busy renal department.

Our Renal department delivers high quality care to patients with all stages of chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury. The department is comprised of a large haemodialysis unit, satellite unit,  peritoneal dialysis unit, outpatients and inpatient ward. The clinical team includes 15 consultant nephrologists, a nurse consultant, a large team of specialist nurses, renal dietitians, therapists and dialysis technicians.

Throughout the department we emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary working to deliver excellent care.

The department consistently delivers high quality care standards evidence through our excellent performance in renal registry annual reports, including high prevalence of home therapy for patients requiring dialysis, a high quality home haemodialysis programme, and a very active research programme.

Key Requirement of the Role:

• Demonstrable experience working as a Dietitian
• Some renal experience, or a keen interest to develop your renal dietetic skills

You will participate in the delivery of a comprehensive and effective evidence based dietetic service to the renal service. Areas of work will include:

• Renal inpatient ward which incorporates a renal high dependency area
• Haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and home Haemodialysis
outpatients.
• Pre-dialysis, Nephrology, and transplant outpatient clinics. 

You will work alongside 4 experienced renal dietitians and a dietetic assistant practitioner, and a comprehensive training package is available to help develop your skills in renal dietetics.

The dietetic team are very well respected by the renal consultants and other members of the renal multidisciplinary team, whom you will work closely with at ward rounds and dialysis review meetings. You will provide education sessions to other health care professionals regarding all aspects of renal dietetics, and patient education sessions. The renal department strongly encourages research and audit by all members of the multi-disciplinary team, and there will be opportunities to participate in both this and service development.

We have an established student training programme for A, B and C placements, in which you will participate, and the department encourages innovation, CPD and professional development.
