Job overview

Derby Private Health (DPH) is a subsidiary of University Hospitals Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. All our profits are invested into NHS services, improving healthcare for everyone.

We introduce changes and new ideas in collaboration with our internal and external stakeholders in partnership with the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.

Derby Private Health patients are those who wish to access their care at their  convenience on either a self-pay basis or indeed enjoy Health Insurance.

As a Trusted Insurance Network provider, with contracts in place with BUPA, AVIVA, and most other  insurers, Derby Private Health provide a full and comprehensive range of services in consultations, Therapies, Diagnostic and Surgeries across multiple sites with access to  all facilities available in an Acute Hospital.

The Deputy General Manager is a new role within Derby Private Health and will support our ambitious growth plans which are both exciting and challenging. 

Main duties of the job

This role is far more than a traditional Deputy General Manager, your skill set will need to include;

• A people person, expert in managing and fostering fantastic relationships with our patients and colleagues.
• Creativity for advertising and marketing, how do we reach out to the local population who we can provide services to?
• A strong understanding of good financial governance and reporting and managing budgets to ensure our services are sustainable.
• A broader thinker, with imagination and innovation and a passion to be the best

  • First degree or equivalent
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Evidence of being a team-player with a clear ability to stand back and view the big picture when necessary
  • Ability to present complex data in a meaningful way to a range of professional groups
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS policy and key changes in the NHS Experience of undertaking strategic planning

Skills and Ability

Essential criteria
  • Experience within the Healthcare sector at senior manager level including operational responsibility for complex specialities and services
  • Experience of managing and hearing performance issues
  • Well-developed IT skills to manage and report on complex performance management information
