Job overview

 The service supports children and young people who are admitted to the acute hospital for reasons relating to their mental health, behaviour or social circumstances.

The post holder will possess a professional or degree level qualification in either Psychology, Social Care, Nursing or a Counselling/Therapeutic Discipline. Prior experience of working with children and young people with mental health problems is essential.

The candidate will need to demonstrate excellent abilities in multi-agency liaison and communication and this should include knowledge of community pathways and systems, and appropriate admission avoidance services as well as the admission pathway for specialist in-patient mental health beds.

Main duties of the job

  • Adopting a person-centered approach to the holistic assessment of children and their families;
  • Tailoring individually designed support, using least restrictive interventions.
