Job overview

If you are looking for an interesting and varied position and would like to work as part of a friendly and busy team this could be the position you are looking for.

We are recruiting a Receptionist to join the team in the Acute Medicine Business Unit. You will help to improve the patient’s experience and quality of care within the Medical Assessment Unit and the Medical Same Day Emergency Care.

You should have the ability to interact with patients and staff on a daily basis in an efficient and friendly way and stay calm in any situation.

You must be motivated, with good communication, inter-personal and administration skills.

The Acute Medicine Business unit is committed to developing and enhancing skills that you currently possess and will offer you the opportunity to gain further skills via a range of training courses designed to suit your own needs.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Medical Assessment Unit  providing a comprehensive front line receptionist/administrative service on a 24 hour service rotation.

This post involves booking in patients, transferring, discharging and answering enquiries from patients, relatives and staff.

You will be responsible for processing patient details to create and maintain the patient’s record whilst they are on the ward.

The role is based within the busy, clinical environment of the Medical Assessment Unit. You will be required to assist with the mentoring of new PPAs to the department

Medical Same Day Emergency Care

To provide an efficient, effective and friendly reception service to patients and visitors attending the ward/unit, facilitating the delivery of a patient focused service in accordance with Trust and Division requirements. To provide a comprehensive clerical and administrative support, maintaining high standards within the working environment.
