The HPB/UGI department has an exciting opportunity for a registrar level doctor to join their department at Royal Derby Hospital. This is a 6 month post with possible extension commencing in August 2024.  The successful candidate will need to be available to commence in August 2024 to fulfil the 6 month contract.

The post will support the HPB department with ward rounds and theatres. There may also be opportunity to participate General Surgery on call registrar rota. 

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy HPB/UGI department. The HPB unit deals with complex benign HPB conditions and perform a high number of laparoscopic common bile duct explorations. The unit offers robotic surgery and has an interest in both robotic pancreatic and hernia surgery

Whilst this is not a training post, there will be plenty of training opportunities whilst working in the department.

  • Assisting consultants in theatre

  • Supporting junior clinical staff

·      MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

·      Eligible for Full GMC Registration, with a licence to practice, at the time of application

·      Eligibility to reside and work in the UK

·      2 years’ experience in Surgery (not including Foundation Years)

·      At least 6 months must be in General Surgery

·      Minimum of 6 months experience within a UK Healthcare setting
