Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join a dynamic, compassionate and supportive team on Ward 209 at Royal Derby Hospital.
Ward 209 is a Gynaecology ward and we are looking for dynamic and dedicated individuals who have excellent communication skills. You must have the ability to drive changes with an upbeat approach ensuring enthusiasm to motivate the team to ultimately provide high standards of quality patient care.
You will need to have excellent compassionate conversation skills with a person focused approach due to the nature of this ward and the patients that we care for. You will need to have good organisational and interpersonal skills, the ability to demonstrate leadership and a sound understanding of general medicine and acute gynaecology care.
Applicants will need to be compassionate, dynamic, reliable, flexible and demonstrable post registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
It is essential that you are confident taking charge of a ward area and are able to prioritise effectively. You must have a team and patient centred focus and have wellbeing at the forefront of your mind.
Main duties of the job
- To support your band 7 Senior sister in the leadership and management of the department
- Provide staff with support and leadership
- To act as a role model to all staff
- To escalate and respond to any issue promptly.
- Work alongside the senior sister to look at service development
- Co ordinate the day to day running of the ward.
- To take part in clinical governance to shape learning and develop the service.
- To sucessfully coordinate and deliver outstanding patient care
- To collaboratively work with colleagues from across the trust
- Role model as an advocate for Gynaecology
- Act as a point of escalation for both staff and patient
