Job overview
There has never been a more exciting time to join the dedicated Nursing Team within the UHDB Endoscopy Service at our Royal Derby Hospital site.
We are one of the largest Endoscopy Services in the country and serve a population of 1 million, including patients from Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
If you are passionate about patient experience and offer excellent, safe standards, and are excited about working in a forward-thinking, fast- growing service, we want to hear from you. You will need to be fully flexible, able to work Monday – Sunday, with an on call commitment.
The successful candidates will support the Consultant Gastroenterologists, Consultant Surgeons and our team of nurse endoscopists to provide safe care and treatment for patients during their time on the Unit. This will involve assisting the endoscopist during endoscopic procedures and caring for patients before, during and after their procedures.
Main duties of the job
At the RDH site we run 7 rooms, 2 sessions daily, with an emergency in patient list 7 days a week. We are supported by a large team of Endoscopists including Consultant Gastroenterologists, Surgeons and Nurse Specialists.
Daily activity includes gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, EMR, ERCP, bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, on call emergency commitment and Bowel Cancer Screening.
The Unit is a modern, well equipped, 7 room, JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit and performs procedures across a full range of gastrointestinal and respiratory endoscopy. With full JAG accreditation and exemplary nursing team, we see over 30,000 procedures performed annually. We have our own dedicated Endoscopy Clinical Facilitator; all our staff are trained for all aspects of Endoscopy Nursing and skills are updated on JETS Database.
