University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust and Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are part of the largest digital health and social care transformation programme in the world. With investment of more than £1 billion pounds a year nationally and a significant additional spend locally, this programme of work has been created to give staff and citizens the technology they need.

Due to this brand-new Innovation programme, we are looking for a dynamic Project Manager to lead this Digital transformation, which will support health and social care in Derbyshire.

Working under the direction of the EPR Programme Manager and alongside other Senior Project Managers, Clinical, Admin, and Technical teams; you will lead and work with clinical and non-clinical workstreams to ensure the clinical design aspects of this EPR Programme are fulfilled for UHDB and CRH. This will include but not limited to current state process mapping, future-state mapping, adoption of new ways of working, change management in the clinical settings etc.

This role will cover 6 sites:

  • Chesterfield Royal Hospital (CRH)
  • Royal Derby Hospital (RDH)
  • Queen’s Hospital Burton (QHB)
  • Florence Nightingale Community Hospital (FNCH)
  • Samuel Johnson Community Hospital (SJCH)
  • Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital (SRPCH)

Hybrid working option will be available as per the need of work. 

Main duties of the job

This is a unique opportunity to join a newly created team that focuses on articulating the impact of this exciting new programme of work.

  • Supervision/management of a project within the Core EPR programme as appropriate.
  • Monitoring of finance resource associate with running a project as appropriate.
  • Support the implementation and deployment of the Core EPR across all sites of the CRH and UHDB estate. Circa. 18000 members of staff.
  • Influence key decision makers on a wide range of information needs for the multi million pound projects.
  •  Provide input into the Trusts implementation plans.
  • Provide information, advice and support across the Trust and other local healthcare organisations
  • Budgetary and responsibility for between 3 and 10 members of staff.
  • Delegated responsibility for specific project budgets up to 100K.

NHSX brings together the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and NHS Improvement who will deliver the Health Secretary’s Tech Vision, building on the NHS Long Term Plan. We will speed up the digital transformation of the NHS and social care. We have set ourselves five missions, which are focused on how we can make things better for patients and staff.

The EPR implementation forms an integral part of an innovative and exciting Clinical Transformation programme that will be enabled by a comprehensive Digital experience, incorporating a wide range of EPR functionality required to deliver excellent patient care. 

The post holder will effectively manage the delivery of multiple, concurrent projects from initial conception and planning to implementation and subsequent monitoring, while ensuring that best practice project management principles and techniques are adopted throughout the project lifecycle.

The post holder will also undertake such other duties as reasonable correspond to the grade of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility, as defined by the line manager.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level plus project/programme management or equivalent
  • Advanced level of IT Literacy with experience of using a range of IT applications
Desirable criteria
  • Project Management Practitioner qualification or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience, specialist working knowledge of project / programme management and improvement methodologies and the ability to apply them in clinical settings, working with different staff groups at all levels within the organisation.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a Supervisory Capacity
  • Has an understanding of the current health care Agenda
  • Experience of working on Digital/EPR System Deployments
