This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist passionate about working with children, young people and their families with Autism. We are a unidisciplinary department of clinical psychologist's with various specialism's including Autism, Pediatrics and Children with Intellectual Disabilities.

Our Autism Assessment Pathway works collaboratively with other health professionals and we off NICE standard assessments. We value CPD and there is a team of both qualified and psychologists in training who work together and share knowledge. We also have an intervention pathway and there are specialism's in OCD, ARFID and subtler presentations of autism. We would love someone with enthusiasm and new ideas to join the team and offer new perspectives. 

The role involves liaison with the University in terms of ensuring competencies of the Trainee's on placement and with delivering training. The primary role is to offer clinical supervision to the CAP's posts both formal and informally.

We are looking for a Principal Clinical Psychologist to join the Specialist Assessment Service in Derby and Derbyshire. The team provides assessment and diagnosis services for Children with complex neuro-developmental difficulties including the possibility of an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

We also offer intervention to children with a diagnosis which includes direct and indirect work, groups and consultation to parents and professionals.

This post will primarily involve supervising CAP's students from Trent University to complete their training and gain appropriate competencies in the above areas, Assistant Psychologist's and Trainee Clinical Psychologist's. Liaising with the University is an integral role which involves teaching and attending student reviews.

Education, Training and Qualifications CPD Requirements

  • Post-graduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS, specifically including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan development psychology.
  • Has completed the academic element of the postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology with a view to achieving the BPS Division of Neuropsychology Practitioner Full Membership qualification (PFMQ).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the HCPC and BPS

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
  • Has begun the practice element of the PFMQ process
