Job overview

We are seeking an Assistant Director to lead the Mental Health, Learning Disabilities & Autism commissioning team.

This is a critical collaborative  system leadership role, to ensure the mental health and learning disabilities and autism commissioning intentions of the system are transacted into collaborative pathways of care and delivered via contractual arrangements with providers.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective and innovative commissioning function, supporting managers and staff across the ICB footprint.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong commitment to system development, transformation, and re-design, to support continual improvement. You will know what best practice looks like in Adult Mental Health and Learning Disability & Autism service delivery and have the energy and enthusiasm to drive this agenda forward.

Main duties of the job

•    As the Assistant Director of Mental Health, Learning Disabilities & Autism, you will be responsible for leading and delivering the transformational programme for commissioning mental health, learning disabilities and autism care and support across multiple service lines.

•    You will develop and implement strategic plans and oversee performance, outcomes and service improvement initiatives.

•    Building and maintaining key relationships with various stakeholders across the region will be essential. 

•    You will also manage a significant budget, ensuring resources are used effectively to achieve the best outcomes for Derby and Derbyshire ICB communities.

•    This role demands evidence of excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and the proven ability to drive change in a complex, fast-paced health and care environment at a senior level.

  • Member of a relevant professional body
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area;
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master’s level equivalent;
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement;
