Deputy Chief Medical Officer

Executives / VSM: Executives / VSM

NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the health statutory body for the Derby City and Derbyshire population. ICSs are partnerships of health and care organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined-up services and to improve the health of people who live and work in their area. Serving a total population of 1,053,000 with a budget of over £1.6 billion the ICB has a staff base of approximately 500 people.

At DDICB we are passionate about making diversity and inclusion part of our DNA. We have staff engagement forums, a diversity and inclusion network run by and for our people and aim for a workforce demography representative of the local community. Together, we are building an inclusive culture, where difference is celebrated and people feel able to bring their whole self to work.

We are a disability confident employer and offer a range of family friendly, flexible working arrangements and inclusive employment policies, to support our people in the workplace.'

Job overview

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS POST VIA TRAC.

We have an extremely exciting opportunity to join our ICB as Deputy Chief Medical Officer. Our ICB was formed with four overarching aims: to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare; to tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access; to enhance productivity and value for money; and to help the NHS support broader social and economic development.

We are seeking a Deputy Chief Medical Officer with the right values, commitment and energy to support delivery of our clinical strategy and ensure we deliver high-quality, safe and sustainable services to the people and families living across Derby and Derbyshire. We have an aspiration to enhance the health and care outcomes for the populations we serve by working more effectively together and harnessing the skills and expertise across our system.

Main duties of the job

This new and pivotal role will work alongside our Chief Medical Officer to support the work of the medical directorate in delivering high quality, safe and effective care. This is an exceptional opportunity to join our system, and we are looking to speak with compassionate, empathetic and inclusive leaders who can work in collaboration with our partners.

We are seeking clinical leaders with credibility, resilience and vision and who are committed to improving and influencing healthcare outcomes for our communities.

We are looking to appoint to a 0.8WTE role, with a view to enabling the successful candidate to maintain some clinical commitment outside of this ICB role.

Working for our organisation

We value and promote diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity for all. We believe that the best organisations are those that reflect the communities they serve. We want to increase the diversity of our NHS leadership and particularly encourage applications from candidates from the global majority, women, LGBTQ+ communities, and from people with lived experience of disability.
