Job overview

This is a great opportunity to spend some time in Undergraduate Medical Education, looking after the needs of Medical students from Nottingham University.

It's a very supportive team, with Lived Experience as a major element of our programme. The pace is fast sometimes but a great environment to work in.

You will have contact with students in both Derby and Chesterfield sites.

Main duties of the job

Student timetabling/setting Microsoft Teams links/student support, liaison with multi-disciplinary team members and other areas of the Trust in order to assist in creating a positive experience for our medical students.

You will also be talking to Expert Patients and Carers, and booking them in for educational sessions with the students and staff.

Looking after the IT needs of the students, such as booking out laptops, and also managing the allocation of swipes to allow access.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

“It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager this is possible before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract. “

·       Medical students will visit DHCFT sites on clinical attachments for their psychiatry placement of their university course training to be doctors.

 

·       An increasing number of patients are needed specifically for student teaching each year. The ‘Expert Patient’ programme is an extensive training programme that requires facilitation of complex coordination that ensures students, teachers/educators and Expert Patients collaborate in delivering numerous sessions with each cohort throughout the academic year.

 

·       Day to day coordination of the department to ensure the teaching programme can be delivered. This post will assist with the administration duties, inc estates and equipment (repairs, procurement, developments), booking and coordinating of clinical teachers/ facilitators, sourcing and booking replacements for absences, dealing with invoices and payments for Expert Patients expenses.

 

·       Responsible for the safe use of expensive teaching equipment and for the purchase of physical assets and supplies. Contributes to the drawing up of department/service budgets. Responsible for monitoring and raising work requisitions for installation or repair and maintenance of physical assets.    

 

·       Administration duties for conferences and CPD events relating to undergraduate teaching.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ3 or equivalent knowledge and experience in administration
  • • Experience in administration and in using Microsoft packages inc Teams, Word Excl PowerPoint and Outlook
Desirable criteria
  • • Knowledge of online ordering systems, eg Oracle.
